This Terms of Service agreement ("Agreement") is a legal contract between you and LAKE CRIER LLC ("Company," "we," or "us"). This Agreement applies to all web properties owned by LAKE CRIER LLC.
1. Purpose of Service
LAKE CRIER LLC provides investigative reporting, data analysis, and civic monitoring for Michigan City, Indiana, and surrounding areas. Our mission is transparency and government accountability.
2. Public Records & Data Accuracy
Much of the data presented on this site is obtained via the Indiana Access to Public Records Act (APRA) and the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).
- "As-Is" Data: We provide government data "as-is." We are not responsible for inaccuracies, typographical errors, or omissions present in the original government sources.
- Verification: Users are encouraged to verify critical data with the original issuing agencies.
3. Fair Use & Copyright
LAKE CRIER LLC may occasionally use copyrighted material (such as city documents, video clips, or news snippets) for the purposes of criticism, comment, news reporting, and research. This constitutes a "Fair Use" of any such copyrighted material as provided for in Section 107 of the U.S. Copyright Law.
4. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to:
- Attempt to interfere with the operation of our Python scripts or databases.
- Use our data for any illegal purpose or to harass any individual.
- Engage in "Lawfare" or frivolous legal threats against LAKE CRIER LLC for the publication of truthful public records.
5. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, LAKE CRIER LLC SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES RESULTING FROM YOUR USE OF OUR DATA OR REPORTING.
6. Governing Law
Any claim relating to LAKE CRIER LLC shall be governed by the laws of the State of Indiana, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
